New Roof Loft Conversion |
| Where the whole roof was built over existing roof to keep inside watertight. |
 |
Kent Road HarrogateThe loft conversion was achieved by building the roof super structure i.e the rafters, purlins, ridge and valley section over the existing roof structure. We were able to do this by opening the existing roof at the eaves sections and building the new roof structure at 50 deg pitch on to the existing wall plate, maintaining the existing ceiling/floor joist to the existing roof. After felt and lathing the new roof and making watertight we were able to remove the old roof from inside and opening the whole area up ready for internal conversion. |
The insulation used was a Super Quilt 14 with 50mm of kingspan between rafters, by using the super quilt product it meant that we did not need to use Kingspan insulation over 50mm i.e 150mm so leaving more headroom within the loft space. |

The roof covering was completed in natural slate, with additional velux windows installed for extra light.
The whole of the external structural work took no longer than 4 weeks and was kept watertight throughout the whole process. |
